Ron McRae

Mayor Ron McRae was first elected to Council in November 1999 and became Mayor for the 2002-2005 term.  Mayor McRae was again elected in 2011. 

Ron was born and raised in Kimberley and follows in his father's footsteps by serving as a civic leader. 

Mayor McRae is currently the City’s representative on the Regional District of East Kootenay Board (RDEK) and the Kootenay East Regional Hospital Board (KERHD) and is a member of the Ktunaxa Kinbasket Treaty Advisory Committee, Bootleg Gap Golf Society, Municipal Insurance Association, Kimberley Recreational Charitable Trust, Emergency Program Executive and Community Sustainability Action Team (CSAT). 

Mayor McRae is married to Wilma, a teacher in the Kimberley School District, and together they have raised two daughters who have both chosen to reside in the community.

Jack Ratcliffe

Councillor Jack Ratcliffe has served on Council since 1982 with the exception of the 2008-2011 term.   Councillor Ratcliffe is a Certified General Accountant and had a forty year career with Teck Cominco, retiring as Controller, Kimberley Operations. 

Jack
and his wife, Rose, reside in Kimberley and raised five children in the community.  Jack dedicates a great deal of his time volunteering for community organizations.  Councillor Ratcliffe chairs the City Finance Committee and he is a long serving member on various Boards such as the Kimberley Public Library, Kimberley Community Development Society, Audit Committee and the Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel.

Albert Hoglund

Councillor Albert Hoglund has been a member of Council since 1988.  Councillor Hoglund is retired from Teck Cominco as a Steamfitter/Pipefitter Job Planner.  Councillor Hoglund chairs the Public Works Committee, and is a member of the Bootleg Gap Golf Society, Labour Relations, Kimberley Recreational Charitable Trust, Sullivan Mine & Railway Historical Society and Liquid Waste Management.

Albert was born and raised in Kimberley and he and his wife, Lynne, a nurse, raised three boys.  They now enjoy having grandchildren growing up in the community.

Don McCormick

Councillor Don McCormick is serving his first term on Council. 

Originally from Saskatchewan, Councillor McCormick and wife Bev moved to Kimberley in 2003.  Don's first community commitment was the Kimberley Rotary Club, of which he is a Past-President; Don is also a Past-President of the Kimberley Chamber of Commerce, a founding Director of Tourism Kimberley and a current Chair of the Community Futures East Kootenay Board of Directors.

Don's extensive business experience includes navigating corporate bureaucracies as a middle manager in large corporations; as global sales & marketing Vice-President for start-up tech companies and as a President and Chief Operating Officer.

Don is the East Kootenay distributor for True North Log Homes.  He also maintains a sales and marketing consulting company.  Bev has a successful interior design business serving the Kimberley/Cranbrook area.

Councillor McCormick chairs the Planning and Development Committee and is a member of the Kimberley and District Chamber of Commerce, Kimberley Community Development Society (KCDS), Kimberley Downtown Parking Commission, Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel, Audit Committee and the Interface Fire & Forest Management Committee (IFFMC).

Darryl Oakley

Councillor Darryl Oakley is serving his first term on Council.  Councillor Oakley is a third generation resident of Kimberley, following in his father's footsteps serving on City Council.

Darryl, his wife, Karen, and their daughters Patti and Bryn enjoy a very active mountain lifestyle, embracing all that Kimberley has to offer.  Currently, Councillor Oakley works for Interior Health as a Regional Psychogeriatric Caregiver Education Coordinator, helping families throughout the East Kootenay understand and cope with the challenges of dementia.  He also volunteers with the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia as a board member and is currently 2nd Vice-President.

Councillor Oakley chairs the Parks and Recreation Committee and is a member of the Kimberley Nature Park Society, Kimberley Community Transportation Committee for the Handicap Society, SPARK Society for Youth (Lee Haskell Youth Centre), Seniors Helping Seniors, Joint Use Committee (School Board), Mark Creek Integrated Water Management Plan (IWMP) and the Urban Deer Advisory Committee.

Kent Goodwin

Councillor Kent Goodwin is serving his first term on City Council. 

Councillor Goodwin is retired from his job in the Maintenance Department of School District #6 where he worked as a Journeyman Cabinetmaker.  He was born in Kimberley and grew up here and in Saskatoon.  He returned to Kimberley in 1981 with his wife Ruth and together they raised two sons, Christopher and Nicholas.  Kent has been active in the community for many years, most notably in the Kimberley Nature Park Society, the Kimberley & District Community Foundation and Wildsight.  He also enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing and mountain biking, building trails and studying lichens, all without leaving town.

Councillor Goodwin is the Chair of the Health and Protection Committee and has been appointed to the Kimberley Health Centre Society, Kimberley Community Development Society (KCDS), Emergency Program Executive, Climate Change Committee and Community Consultative Committee.

Bev Middlebrook

Councillor Bev Middlebrook is serving her first term on Council. 

Councillor Middlebrook was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and moved to Kimberley in 1978 after meeting many Kimberley friends at the Lethbridge College.  Her experience has been in Media, Sales & Marketing, Business Instructor as well as Home-based Entrepreneur, Employment & Career Instructor and Counsellor through Government contracts.  Bev has been the Executive Director of the "Lees Spark Youth Centre", "The Centre of Opportunity"; which is "the Longest Lasting Youth Centre in B.C.".

Bev is dedicated to her community as a fundraiser for the S.P.C.A., five years chairing the Kimberley Community Fall Fair, and four years coordinating the Kimberley, Cranbrook and area Multiple Sclerosis Walk.

Bev's interests are walking the trails, pets, community people and activities, skiing, painting, archery, camping and kayaking.  As well, she enjoys going to her cabin in Saskatchewan and visiting her family.

Councillor Middlebrook chairs the Administration Committee and is a member of the Kimberley Arts Council (Centre 64), CrimeStoppers, Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel, Audit Committee and Affordable Housing Committee.
